Do you know what the stages of criminal procedure are?
According to Article 211 of the CNPP, the criminal procedure consists of the following stages:
I. The investigation stage, which includes the following phases: a) Initial investigation: It begins with the filing of the complaint, report, or other equivalent requirement and concludes when the accused is brought before the Control Judge so that charges may be formally presented.
b) Supplementary investigation: This phase begins once the charges have been formally presented and ends when the investigation is officially closed.
II. The intermediate stage, or trial preparation stage: This runs from the filing of the formal accusation until the issuance of the order to open the trial.
III. The trial stage: This starts once the trial opening order is received and continues until the sentencing issued by the Trial Court.
The process begins with the initial hearing and ends with the final judgment.
